To Our Valued Customers:
The Select Board of Wellfleet has made the decision to increase parking rates at Whitecrest Beach to $40 a day this summer. That is a 100% increase over previous summers. They have also decreased the number of daily spaces available at Whitecrest Beach as well. Daily visitors will no longer be able to park in the Oceanside lot at Whitecrest Beach.
The Wellfleet Beachcomber is opposed to this increase as we feel it’s specifically targeting people who love to spend the day at Wellfleet’s backside beaches as well as The Beachcomber. The town did not increase parking fees anywhere else town wide. There was no increase to 3 day, weekly, or season beach passes, just the daily fee at Whitecrest Beach was increased.
The Beachcomber will still provide the complimentary Funk Bus to shuttle patrons and beachgoers to and from Whitecrest and Cahoon Hollow from 11am to 6pm daily through Labor Day. We will also continue to keep our $20 voucher system in place as well, in our Beachcomber parking lot.
There is a Select Board meeting Tuesday, July 10. Please consider calling Wellfleet Town Hall at 508-349-0300 and let the Town know that $40 a day is too much money for a day at the beach.
