4th Annual Live for Lou fundraiser!!
We want to thank all of you for making our 40th summer something very special and memorable. Certainly, no one will ever forget the time part of the parking lot fell, bringing a car along for company. We promise to keep you updated about what’s happening with the town and repairs. As we saw, it takes a whole lot more than a broken parking lot to keep us and our awesome patrons down.
Before we close down for the season, we have one more important event we’d love you to come out for.
Live for Lou will host its Fourth Annual Live for Lou Fundraiser on Saturday, September 9, 12 ? 6 pm, at the Wellfleet Beachcomber. Louie LeBart left us too soon when he died of an opiate overdose in February 2014, at 25 years of age. He was a leader amongst his family and friends on Cape Cod, earning much recognition for his love of the community and athletics at Nauset Regional High School. Here, Louie won countless races on the Swim team and led his peers in competitions and during practices.
Together, Live for Lou Donors and the LeBart Family have given over $45,000 in scholarships and grants, and plans are in place to implement the Wellfleet Memorial Garden. Annual Scholarships are given to athletes at Nauset Regional High School who pursue athletics in college, and to scholars pursuing substance abuse counseling and returning to Cape Cod after their education; grants are given to local non-profit organizations fighting the drug epidemic on Cape Cod, such as Gosnold and the Canal House; and the Wellfleet Memorial Garden in Wellfleet Town Center will serve as a memorial and contemplative space to think about those we have lost too soon in this small Cape community.
On September 9 the non-profit fund will celebrate Louie and his magnificent life through a silent auction, raffle, live music, unlimited food and raw bar, and cash bar. Live for Lou asks for a $30 entry fee, and all funds raised, including the entry fee, support the pillars of Live for Lou; beauty, compassion, and athleticism. Additionally, Live for Lou will host a Memorial Paddle-Out at 10:30 am, September 9, at Cahoon Hollow Beach, with early entry into the event for all who participate.
Please visit the website to learn more about the event and what Live for Lou has done over these last few years, www.liveforlou.com. Thank you to all of our previous donors for supporting Live for Lou, and understanding the need for awareness around opiate addiction on the Cape
If you are unable to attend but would like to donate, we’d be thrilled and grateful. Just go to the Live for Lou website and you can do it right there.
Again, thank you for an amazing summer. It was so great we can’t wait to do it again in 2018.
